John (the author of this site) has a large colony of GCN living just a few metres from his house in Little Melton.  John has observed the newts in his pond as early as November, which is much earlier than the literature suggests.  John is keeping records that are being referenced by academics who study newts.  The newts are easy to see and can be seen courting.
