Anne spotted this white and discoloured spawn in the pond at the John Innes (20/03/2023).   An expert commented "The white mottled spawn is likely either infertile or damaged by frost or insufficient sunlight and thus not developing. Hopefully it’s only a small proportion of the spawn in the pond. "
